Mary Aviyah Farkas

Aviyah’s father, Kálmán Gutlohn, was a Holocaust survivor from Budapest, Hungary. He was in Forced Labor for over 3.5 years. Aviyah was born in 1948 and always knew about her parents’ suffering during the Holocaust. She worked for over 25 years as a Registered Dietitian and knows that she chose the dietetics/nutrition field because she grew up with stories of starvation. After the death of her first wife, she wrote Overcoming Deepest Grief, A Woman’s Journey. She has been a Docent at Holocaust Museum LA since 2019, as well as being a writer and speaker about being the child of a Survivor.
