About
Shoah Legacy Writers Group is an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Holocaust survivors and their families through their descendants’ voices.
In May 2017 Michele Gold, Honorary Director at Holocaust Museum Los Angeles developed the first memoir writing group which was called Legacies of Survival which she updated and offered as a workshop for 2Gs (Descendants of Holocaust Survivors) in June 2022. Participants learned techniques for sharing their family histories and explored opportunities for utilizing their histories to document stories. After the success of the workshop and the strong bond that had developed within the group, the natural progression was to expand their passion and the Shoah Legacy Writers Group was born.
Upon completing the workshop, the attendees realized that their work was not done. They shared the collective goal of writing, teaching and speaking about the Holocaust, and realized the unique contribution they could make to the literature of the Shoah. They have been together ever since.
Today, the group remains dedicated to its mission and is actively engaged in activities across Southern California. The writing continues, a Legacy Anthology book is being created, and its members have been participating in a variety of activities and presentations at locations across Southern California.
Shoah Legacy Writers Group looks forward to continued growth and impact in its efforts to preserve the memories of the past and educate the public so that such atrocities about which we have knowledge should never happen again.
