Anna Paikow
Anna is the only child of Matel Schechet Paikov and Shimon Paikov, both of whom miraculously survived the August 1942 Sarny Massacre in what is today western Ukraine. Anna’s father fought back, becoming a commander in a Jewish partisan brigade (The Shimon Paikov Brigade). She was born in a displaced persons camp. She has been and continues to be a lifelong educator and learner and is deeply committed to Zachor/Remembrance. In recent years, she has volunteered as a docent at Holocaust Museum LA and as a speaker at both HMLA and Museum of Tolerance. Anna, as did her parents, genuinely believes that every day is a blessing, a day of kindness, a day of courage.
