Deborah Zisovic Beckman

Debbie’s parents, Max and Helen Zisovic, were Holocaust Survivors from neighboring rural farm villages in Czechoslovakia. Her mother survived a ghetto and five concentration camps, her father survived several labor battalions, and both lost family members. They met and married after the Holocaust. Debbie’s sister was born in Czechoslovakia, Debbie in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania shortly after their arrival in the United States, and her brother in Los Angeles. She has one daughter and two grandchildren. She became a docent and speaker at Holocaust Museum LA, as well as a speaker at the Museum of Tolerance.
